Museum Redevelopment

Time flies when you’re having fun

It’s over 20 years since the museum first opened and, in that time, we have welcomed over 1 million visitors. We love sharing our passion for the medical innovations which have improved healthcare for us all and we want to continue doing that for the next 20 years and more. However, to ensure our future, we need to make some changes.

Exciting time are just around the corner

Our £4 million redevelopment project, A Healthy Future is expected to be complete by Summer 2020 and will transform the museum building and galleries into an inspiring visitor experience fit for the 21st Century.

Brand new and updated galleries will allow us to share even more stories about medical innovations and the people behind them. Contemporary exhibitions will explore the big stories and vital questions surrounding our current and future healthcare, while providing a space for contemplation and debate.

No more leaky roof! Repairs to the fabric our Grade II listed building, formerly the Leeds Union Workhouse, will ensure our nationally significant collection is preserved for future generations.
