Thackray Medical Museum
We have an onsite Pay and Display car park for Museum visitors. Please bring the correct change as the machines do not give change and they do not take notes. Alternatively you can pay using your mobile phone & card (admin charge applies). Spaces are limited and available on a first-come first-served basis, so allow plenty of time at busy times (like school holidays) to find alternative parking in case we are full. Coach parking (x 2) and minibus parking (x 2) bays are available for large groups and there are four parking spaces for Blue Badge holders (free).
At busy times, Museum visitors can use St James's Hospital multi-storey car park on Beckett Street (5mins walk). In addition, there are also two pay and display car parks within a few minutes walk. These car parks have their own charges and hourly rates as they are not associated with the Museum. The Museum's car park can also be used by non-museum visitors such as hospital staff and hospital visitors.
Car Park Tariffs:
Monday to Sunday 08:00 – 17:00
1 hour £2.00
2 hour £2.50
3 hours £3.00
4 hours (max stay*) £4.00
Overnight parking 17.00 – 08.00 £2.00
Blue badge holders parking in disabled bays £0.00
* Any museum visitors who wish to stay longer than 4 hours, and anyone attending a full day conference/event pays just £4. Please pay as normal at the machine and obtain an extension permit from the car park attendant to display in your vehicle.
Please note: on average, our visitors spend 3 - 4 hours in the museum.
